HEY REAL ESTATE BESTIES!

I waved goodbye to the last person as I closed the 8-foot wooden door, an undeniable smile on my face.

“Thank you, Jesus. I actually did it.”

I had just finished an open house at my very first listing, and to say it was a success would be an understatement. There was traffic throughout the home all day, the feedback was amazing, and three people even shared that they would be putting in an offer with their realtor.

Yay GOD!

During the open house, I had very natural conversations. I met a sweet couple that came as soon as I opened the doors. She was an attorney, and he was in tech. They had a newborn son named AJ and were ready to ditch apartment life so the baby would have a yard to grow up in. This home wasn’t a good fit, but we REALLY hit it off well. By the end of the open house, we were laughing and joking like old friends. We made plans to talk in the next few days to figure out the next steps.

I followed up as promised and was immediately sent to voicemail.

 Strange.

I left a message and followed up with a text, waiting a few minutes for a response.

 Nothing.

“She must be in court,” I said to myself. Attorneys are always busy. I’ll call back tomorrow.

I repeated the same cycle of calling and texting. Texting and calling. This went on for days. Then weeks. Then months.

My ego was hurt, but I continued to reach out. Before real estate, if I called you twice and you didn’t call me back, I would block you. But I am a realtor now, and my pipeline was LOW. I needed this!

Months later, I was sitting outside a restaurant having lunch by myself when I received a text.

I read the message and chuckled at myself. My mother always told me that I have to be patient and trust God’s timing and this was evidence of that.

Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Some seeds that we sow will grow right away, others will take some time to reap a harvest and there is some fruit that we will never taste good. But we still need to sow the seeds and tend to the harvest.

This can be especially hard in our business because honestly, the waiting game feels like rejection.

But remember, just because it feels like rejection doesn’t mean it is. Every call, text, and follow-up is a seed planted. Some seeds take longer to sprout, but with faith and persistence, they will grow.

So, keep sowing good seeds, stay patient, and trust that in due season, you will reap your harvest. The work we do may not always show immediate results, but the impact is being made, one conversation at a time.
