HEY REAL ESTATE BESTIES!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been redecorating my office, and this week it finally came together. As I was putting the finishing touches on it, I almost picked up my phone to FaceTime my mom. This may sound crazy since she’s been in heaven for almost three years, but when something special happens, she’s still the first person I want to tell.

There was a time when unexpected waves of grief like this would stop me in my tracks. Truth be told, when I was deep in grief, I almost gave up—not that I wanted to harm myself, but I just didn’t want to try anymore. I didn’t want to be a good realtor, a great mother, or a wife. I didn’t want to try at anything. The weight of grief made it hard to keep going.

Have you been there? When life feels so heavy that even putting one foot in front of the other seems impossible?

What I’ve learned is that sometimes you can’t keep going. Sometimes you have to cry out, be real with God, and just sit before Him. I found so much comfort in Matthew 14, where Jesus grieves the loss of John the Baptist. He was fully human like us, and He withdrew to be alone with His Father. After that time with God, He returned and performed one of His greatest miracles.

Following Jesus’ example—retreating to meet with the Father—has been my saving grace in my darkest moments. Something powerful happens when you sit with Jesus, pour out your heart, and grow in intimacy with Him. The more you sit with Him and read His Word, the stronger you become.

So, if life feels overwhelming or grief is weighing heavy on your heart, I encourage you to retreat and meet with Jesus. Let Him fill you with the strength you need to keep going.
