Around this time of year, most realtors and business owners start reflecting on the past year and setting goals for the next. It’s always a good idea to look at what went well and figure out where you can grow and expand.
Here’s the challenge, though: it’s easy to make big plans for your business and your life and then ask God to bless them after the fact. In His sovereignty, God may choose to bless those plans—or you might end up feeling disappointed when things don’t turn out the way you hoped.
The real issue is that too often, we skip the step of seeking God first. It’s like trying to cook a dish without reading the recipe, then being confused when it doesn’t come out right. The Bible reminds us, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). We’re called to seek God first, but so often, He’s the last one we bring into our plans.
When you take time to meet with Jesus, something powerful happens. That quiet time with Him will begin to reveal where you really need to put your time and energy. You may find that His plans for you are less about more deals or hustling harder and more about using your gifts in new and unique ways to impact the Kingdom. He might want to redirect your priorities to include things you hadn’t even considered—but first, you have to seek Him.
So, as you wrap up this year and prepare for 2025, I challenge you to set up a meeting with Jesus. Start with gratitude, thanking Him for how He’s carried and kept you this year. Then, get quiet and ask Him what His plans are for your life, your business, and your gifts. When you align your goals with His will, the results will not only fulfill your purpose but also glorify Him.
When do you plan to set up this meeting with Jesus? Drop a comment and let me know. I’d love to cheer you on as you prioritize Him in your planning.
