HEY REAL ESTATE BESTIES!

A few weeks ago, I was in the kitchen making greens to take to a friend’s house. It was my first time buying fresh greens — not the bagged kind I usually grab — and I quickly realized I didn’t buy nearly enough. As I stood there picking and washing the stems, I laughed at myself because I truly had no clue what I was doing. And in that moment, I thought, “My mama would’ve gotten such a kick out of this.”

This would’ve been one of those times I FaceTimed her, and we would’ve laughed through the whole process. She probably would’ve told me to throw something unexpected in the pot to stretch it and make it work. But as I reached for my phone and remembered I couldn’t call her, that familiar wave of grief washed over me. Just for a second… and then something shifted.

Instead of being consumed by sadness like I might’ve been a few years ago, I felt this warmth — a deep appreciation for all the memories, the laughter, and those sweet FaceTime calls we did share. Grief didn’t hit hard that day. It felt more like a hug — gentle, honest, and filled with love.

Real Estate Bestie Devotional | Psalm 30:11 | When Grief Shows Up Like a Hug

“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing.” — Psalm 30:11

That verse lives in my heart differently now. God really does walk with us through the hardest parts — and when we’re ready, He reminds us that joy can return, even in the places where it once hurt.

On this Mother’s Day, I’m reminded of the power of a mother’s love — and how deeply grateful I am to have experienced my mama’s. If you’re walking through a tough season today, please know you’re not alone. God is near, and He is faithful. There will be a day — maybe even a quiet moment in your kitchen — when you’ll smile again.

Have you ever had a moment where grief surprised you with peace instead of pain?
