Bestie, it’s that time of year when everybody is talking about vision boards, resolutions, and goal setting. And while I love a good planner and a fresh set of pens, I want to remind you of something that matters even more.
Before you map out a single goal or write down one resolution, schedule time with God. Get quiet before Him and ask for clarity on what He is calling you to do in the coming year.
Jesus modeled this so beautifully. Time and time again in Scripture, we see Him withdrawing to spend time with the Father. Often before a miracle, and even after the crowds had seen something incredible, Jesus slipped away to pray. His ministry was fueled by intimacy with God.
And the opposite is true too. The Bible shows us what happens when people move ahead in their own will instead of God’s:
- Think about Abraham and Sarah. Instead of waiting on God’s promise, they took matters into their own hands, and it caused years of strife and division (Genesis 16).
- Or the Israelites who decided to move forward into battle without God’s blessing after He told them to wait. They were defeated because they went without His covering (Numbers 14).
Bestie, I don’t want that for me, and I don’t want that for you. Your gifts, your business, your family, your dreams—none of it will be sustainable unless God is the foundation.
So before you start setting goals, make sure the first name on your planning session invite is His. Ask Him to align your heart with His will. Seek His guidance for what to focus on and what to release. Because at the end of the day, His plan is better than anything we could dream up on our own.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6
🙏🏽 Lord, as I prepare to set goals for this new year, I surrender my plans to You. Show me what matters most. Help me to hear Your voice clearly, and give me the courage to follow where You lead. Amen.
Your Real Estate Bestie,
