HEY REAL ESTATE BESTIES!

A few weeks ago, I went in for a routine mammogram, fully expecting everything to be okay like it is every single year. But to my surprise, I received an email and a phone call a few days later stating that there was a concern in one of my breasts and I needed to go in for additional testing.

Immediately, I called my husband and my best friend. While it wasn’t a full-blown freakout, I was definitely emotional. Thoughts raced through my mind, especially memories of my sister, who passed away from breast cancer at 29 years old, and  my close friend Catherine, who passed away last year  from the same disease. After talking with them, I calmed down a bit, but my mind kept wandering. Before I knew it, I had walked through the worst-case scenario four or five times. That’s when I decided to go for a literal walk and talk to Jesus.

Fast forward—I went for the additional testing, and everything turned out okay. But that moment taught me a lot about my response to uncertainty.

In the Bible, Job’s response to tragedy is a powerful example of trusting God in the hardest times. In a single day, Job received news of back-to-back calamities—he lost his livestock, his property, and, most devastating of all, all 10 of his children. His response? “Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, ‘The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord’” (Job 1:20-21).

Job’s response is so different from mine. While I was spinning worst-case scenarios at the thought of something being wrong, Job knelt in worship in the face of unimaginable loss. It’s a convicting reminder that God is good, no matter what the circumstance.

We are called to trust Him, even when life feels uncertain or overwhelming. Gratitude for both the good and the bad doesn’t come naturally, but as you grow in relationship with God, you begin to understand that He is always working, even in the hard moments. He doesn’t allow challenges in our lives because He doesn’t love us. He allows them so that His glory can be revealed through us in new and unexpected ways.

So when you face your own moments of fear, uncertainty, or even real tragedy, what will your response be? Will you spiral into fear, or will you lean into trust? Will you worry, or will you worship?

Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trusting God int he Difficult Times- Rosemary Lewis - Real Estate Bestie Devotional

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

God’s faithfulness doesn’t waver based on our circumstances. He is good, always, and He is worthy of our trust—even when life feels heavy. Let this be a reminder to turn to Him first, not just for answers, but for peace and assurance that His plans are always for our good and His glory.
